透過收購來強化自家產品優勢，這在企業是相當常見的一件事。
ARM 在 5 月 18 日發布新聞稿，宣布以 3.5 億現金收購同樣在英國的 Apical 公司。Apical 主要是一家影像與嵌入式視覺運算 IP 公司，成立於 2002 年，曾入選英國 100 大成長快速的科技公司之一（Tech Track 100 fastest-growing UK technology companies 2015）。
從新聞稿資訊來看，Apical 這家公司的產品已經被運用在 15 億台智慧型手機，以及超過 3 億台裝置內，而這些裝置包含 IP Cam、數位相機以及平板電腦上。
Apical 目前擁有 3 樣相當獨有的技術，分別是 Spirit Engine、Assertive Display 以及 Assertive Camera；其中，Assertive Display 就曾運用在 Nokia Lumia 1520 上。

併購 Apical 對 ARM 是一件好事情，特別是在 Mali GPU 部分。
未來 Apical 技術將可以直接導入到 ARM GPU 中，藉以強化公司在資安系統、Robotics、行動裝置以及下一代汽車等領域的優勢。
